Dr. Uzo Odili is an actively practicing physician in Texas, working in both emergency room settings and urgent care clinics.  Dr. Odili is a first-generation Nigerian-American, whose parents immigrated to the U.S. in pursuit of higher education and better opportunities for their family. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he attended Bellaire High School, where he was recognized as a National Merit Scholar. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the Honors College at the University of Houston, earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Biology. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from UT Houston Medical School in 2007, now known as McGovern Medical School, and is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).

 

With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Odili has worked in a variety of emergency rooms across Texas, ranging from rural hospitals such as El Campo Memorial Hospital, Falls Community Hospital, and Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville to Level 1 Trauma Centers, including Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple and Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. His leadership experience spans more than a decade, beginning in 2012 when he served as Chief Resident of his graduating class at Baylor Scott & White Family Medicine Residency. He later became the Assistant Medical Director for the Houston division of Medspring Urgent Care, a multi-state clinic company with over 20 locations, including eight in Houston. Since 2016, Dr. Odili has served as Medical Director for Apex Urgent Care, where he has overseen operations for more than eight years. Under his leadership, Apex Urgent Care was recognized with the “People Love Us on Yelp” award in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In this role, he actively practices medicine while supervising Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants across three clinic locations, providing chart reviews, clinical feedback, and real-time consultations. His outstanding contributions to the field of medicine earned him the Top Doctor Award in Emergency Medicine from Houstonia Magazine in 2018. He also serves as Volunteer Faculty at the Tilman Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston, where he mentors medical students in the art of family medicine.

 

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Odili is a prolific author and contributor to health education. Over the years, he has authored, co-authored, and edited over a dozen books. In 2019, he wrote Vaping 101: A Q&A Guide for Parents and Teachers, offering practical advice to protect teens from the dangers of vaping. Dr. Odili is a dedicated medical contributor to the Fort Bend Community Prevention Coalition and frequently volunteers as a guest speaker for community town hall discussions on health and well-being. He also consults with Cy-Fair ISD and Humble ISD on their efforts to reduce the prevalence of vaping among their students. In 2020, Dr. Odili partnered with Mr. Organik to launch the Organik Seeds of Greatness series, beginning with How to Become a Successful YouTuber and Entrepreneur, a guide aimed at inspiring success through hard work and determination. This partnership also produced the children’s book Grow Strong My Little Kings and Queens, which emphasizes the message that every child can achieve greatness with the right encouragement and guidance. The Organik Seeds of Greatness series continued in 2021 with Free Yourself: The Organik Guide to Financial Freedom, a resource designed to empower readers with the knowledge to make sound financial decisions. He has also written joint books on the topics of cryptocurrency investing, such as Cryptocurrency and the New Black Wallstreet: A Beginner's Guide to Crypto Investing.  Dr. Odili is married to his wonderful wife, LaTisha, and together they are the proud parents of four boys.
